About Us.

Randy Johnson
I would like to personally thank you for taking the time to put together the nice reunion for me at the American Legion in Orleans. It meant a lot to me to be able to see so many family, friends and former classmates during this difficult time in my life. When I found out that I had liver cancer back on January 2, 2009, my whole life changed. It has been a difficult road for me but being able to talk and reconnect with people, some of who I have not seen in twenty or thirty years, was probably one of the best gifts that I could have ever received!  I really appreciate that you took so much time out of your life to be able to reacquaint me with my friends and loved ones.

I feel as though I cannot thank you enough for what you did for me, as I will cherish this memory for the rest of my life.  I had a wonderful time, given my condition, and was happy that it was scheduled during a time where I could thoroughly enjoy everyone's company.

Thank you again, for everything that you have done for me and my wonderful family.  Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,
Randy Johnson

Our Story

Randy Johnson was diagnosed with Liver Cancer January 2009. In Dec 2009, Randy passed away. Randy, unfortunately couldn't get any help from the Veteran Affairs, until two Senators and a Congressman helped to get his benefits claims expedited, 5 months after being diagnosed with Cancer).

Randy was drawing Social Security but needed to apply for disability. Thankfully he was awarded disability giving him an $100 dollars per month. Unfortunately however, that put him over the limit to draw Medicaid, which he had relied on to help pay for his medications. It had taken months for Medicaid to be approved for him & then get taken away.

Randy and his wife had to use what little money they had to pay for his medications. With all of his financial troubles the bank eventually foreclosed on their home. His wish was to have a family and friends get together before he got to sick. Disabled Veterans Wish Foundation made it happen for him in Aug 2009.
